Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed 2024: Two tours collide for European golf’s most innovative event
DP World and Ladies European Tour players battle it out for the same trophy at the Scandinavian Mixed, returning for a fourth edition in Sweden.
Many eyeballs will inevitably be drawn to the big-money action across the Atlantic this week at LIV Houston and the PGA Tour’s Memorial Tournament, but it’s back in Europe at the Scandinavian Mixed that may well be the most captivating viewing of the lot.
Co-sanctioned between the DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour, the Scandinavian Mixed is the only tournament on the European golf circuits with the top male and female stars battling it out on the same course for the same trophy and prize fund.
The Swedish golf folk heroes of Henrik Stenson and Annika Sorenstam host the event that provides genuine competition between the sexes from their respective tees. The three editions to date have seen two male winners in Dale Whitnell (2023) and Jonathan Caldwell (2021), and the popular female home favorite victory of Linn Grant in 2022.
Where is the Scandinavian Mixed played?
For the first time, the Scandinavian Mixed will be hosted at Vasatorps Golfklubb in Helsingborg, Sweden. Its two championship courses have previously hosted tournaments on both the men’s and women’s European Tour where the former World No.1s of Annika Sörenstam, Seve Ballesteros, and Greg Norman all have recorded victories.
What is the format of the Scandinavian Mixed?
78 men and 78 women comprise the 156-strong field who compete in a standard strokeplay event over 72 holes with a cut after 36 holes (two rounds). The player who achieves the lowest score over four rounds will win the tournament.
Who is in the field for the Scandinavian Mixed?
The women’s field is boosted by current Order of Merit leader Bronte Law and five-time LET winner Linn Grant who lines up again in a bid to reclaim the title she captured in 2022. Grant is joined by fellow Swede and Solheim Cup teammate Madelene Sagstrom.
Over on the men’s side, recent Soudal Open champion Nacho Elvira will tee it up alongside defending champion Dale Whitnell and Sweden’s high-flyer in the Race to Dubai Rankings, Jesper Svensson.
Who will win the Scandinavian Mixed?
Selected odds: TBC
How much will the Scandinavian Mixed winner receive?
The winner in Helsingborg will receive a $340,000 share from the $2 million purse. Official World Golf Ranking points are on offer for both tours, as are respective points for the Race to Dubai and LET Order of Merit competitions, plus Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup points.
