RC Lens interested in Chelsea’s Malang Sarr – Get French Football News

With Malang Sarr’s (25) contract set to expire next summer, Chelsea may look to cash in on their centre back, who hasn’t played a single game last season with the Blues. The former OGC Nice defender could return to Ligue 1, as RC Lens is eyeing a move for the left-footed. 

Six months after his aborted transfer to Le Havre, Sarr could finally return to Ligue 1. In four seasons at Chelsea, the French centre back never got the trust of his head coaches, with Mauricio Pochettino completely leaving him out of the first team group last season. Loaned out to FC Porto during the 2020-2021 season and AS Monaco in 2022-2023, the former France U20 international failed to make an impression on both occasions, only being used sporadically. He is now ready to take on a new challenge in the hope of gaining more game time elsewhere. 

According to a report by Foot Mercato and confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Malang Sarr is on RC Lens’ shortlist. The Artois side is looking to strengthen their back line and sees the French defender as a good opportunity on the market. No bid has been submitted as of yet, and it remains to be seen what valuation Chelsea have placed on a player who has only played 21 games in four years since his arrival on a free transfer from OGC Nice in 2020.
