Commission president spoke at European semiconductor plant launch, touting new “investment commission” era

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen has told attendees at the launch of a European semiconductor factory that it is time for Europe to “switch gear” in the race for new technology.

Speaking in Dresden, Germany, where the European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company plant will operate, she confirmed that €5 billion had been made available for the project.
