AC Milan to win and over 2.5 goals

After finishing second in Serie A last season, AC Milan fans would have been confident of putting up another title challenge in 2024/25, but their season start has been poor so far.

New boss Paulo Fonseca is yet to win a game in his opening three league outings with just two points picked up ahead of the September international break.

This weekend is a perfect opportunity to get that victory he sorely needs as winless Venezia land in Milan. All of Milan’s games so far this season have featured over 2.5 goals and that pattern looks set to continue.

Victory will also ease the pressure on Fonseca ahead of a Champions League opener against Liverpool in midweek.

Kylian Mbappe 1+ shots on target

Kylian Mbappe is the talk of Madrid this season following his summer switch from PSG but it hasn’t gone fully to plan just yet for the France star.

After failing to score in his opening three games, he netted a double in the 2-0 win over Real Betis, prior to the international break.

However, there is still the sense that he hasn’t quite settled, and no goals for France last week will send him back to Madrid with plenty to think about.

One thing is for sure, his lack of goals is not down to not trying, as he leads La Liga for shots taken this season with 25 including nine on target.

Under 2.5 goals

Continuing the theme of this game being tight, goals could also be at a premium, with both of Real Madrid’s away games ending 1-1 last month.

Real Sociedad have scored just once in both of their home fixtures in La Liga and previous clashes have been pretty close. In the last eight league meetings between the two teams only two have featured over 2.5 goals scored.

Bradley Barcola to score

PSG are keen to show everyone they are not missing Kylian Mbappe and France star Bradley Barcola is playing a key part in helping them do just that.

There is little value in a result bet here, as PSG have won all three games so far this season in Ligue 1, with an aggregate score of 13-2.

So, we are looking at some additional markets. Barcola is bang in form, with four goals spread across those three games and a first senior goal for Les Blues during the break as they lost 3-1 at home to Italy in UEFA Nations League action.

Randal Kolo Muani to have 2+ shots on target

Kolo Muani has a greater role in the post-Mbappe era and he also scored for France in midweek via the 2-0 home win over Belgium.

He scored in both of his PSG starts this season, interestingly both coming after the 90th minute mark, which makes a shot on target pick more favourable than a goal shout.

The Les Bleus striker is averaging two shots on target per game in Ligue 1 this season.
