Bristol law firm named ‘one of most innovative in Europe’ by Financial Times – South West

Bristol headquartered law firm TLT has been named one of the most innovative law firms in Europe by the Financial Times, with the firm scoring highly across innovation, digital, people and social responsibility.

The Financial Times European Law Firm Index assesses law firms and in-house legal teams, providing a ranking of the most innovative law firms in Europe. This year, some 617 submissions and nominations were received from 128 law firms and 101 in-house legal teams.

Researchers assessed participating firms through interviews with clients, senior lawyers and experts. TLT was ranked 40th, cementing its position as one of the most innovative law firms in Europe.

TLT was recognised for a number of initiatives introduced in the last 12 months highlighting the firm’s leading position in its use of data and technology, people initiatives and social responsibility programmes. These have included the introduction of TLT’s Horizon Scanning service, which utilises technology to monitor and plan for changes in the regulatory landscape. The service was commended in the ‘innovation in regulatory solutions’ category at the FT Innovative Lawyer Europe Awards.

TLT’s commitment to improving diversity, supporting employee health and wellbeing, and investing in its people through training programmes were also acknowledged. In summer 2023, TLT achieved 33% female partnership, before introducing a new target to reach 50% representation at partner level by 2029. The firm also introduced a new target to improve diversity amongst early career roles, committing to achieve 35% ethnic minority representation by 2030.
