Travelodge agrees deals for three new hotels in Spain

Budget hotel chain Travelodge is continuing to expand its presence in Spain with the signing of three new properties.

Travelodge has signed deals for new-build hotels in the cities of San Sebastian, Cadiz and Alicante, which will take its footprint in Spain up to 15 properties when they open.

The company announced early last year that it was planning to target Spain due to a lack of budget hotels within the Spanish market.

The three new properties will add a total of 263 rooms to Travelodge’s Spanish operation with construction expected to start in 2025. Travelodge has yet to announce opening dates for the hotels.

Angel Beleno, Travelodge’s Spain general director, said: “All three locations have been carefully selected to suit the needs of the modern business and leisure traveller, and we look forward to welcoming our guests at these fantastic new additions to our growing hotel portfolio once they open.

“There is plenty of opportunity for Travelodge to expand within the Spanish hotel market, and we want to take our brand to new business and leisure locations across the country.”

Travelodge has already doubled the number of current Spanish properties through its acquisition of six hotels from Louvre Hotels Group earlier this year.

The new San Sebastian hotel will include 78 rooms, while the hotels in Cadiz and Alicante will offer 103 and 82 rooms respectively. They will all feature Travelodge’s inhouse restaurant 85 Bar Café.
