Finnair unveils new-look Embraer cabins
Finnair has revealed the first of its newly-refurbished Embraer cabins that will be rolled out across its entire fleet of short-haul aircraft.
The new-look cabins, which include 12 business class seats, feature a “bright and airy” look that is in line with the carrier’s recently revamped wide-body fleet, and a colour scheme that matches its new Schengen lounge at Helsinki Airport.
The Nordic carrier said it plans to renew its entire fleet of 12 Embraer aircraft by spring 2026, with seven aircraft set to undergo refurbishment during the current winter season. The fleet is largely used on domestic and short-haul routes across Northern and Central Europe.
The updated cabins also feature new LED lighting and seats and carpet that are lighter in weight in an effort to reduce fuel consumption and related emissions. The carrier said its aim to reduce the weight of the aircraft “has been a consideration for all elements in the cabin”.
“With these changes, we aim to reduce the weight of the aircraft by approximately 150kg per aircraft,” said Eerika Enne, head of inflight customer experience at Finnair.
The number of seats in the cabin – a total of 100 – remains unchanged, however seats from rows 1-9 now “recline slightly”. The service concept will also remain unchanged, Enne said.
