Clarity to integrate ECOsmart into booking platforms
Travel management company Clarity is to integrate Greengage Solutions’ ECOsmart sustainability certification into its booking platforms.
The move will see ECOsmart’s API being plugged into Clarity’s ClarityGo and MeetingsPro booking tools to allow users to choose more sustainable hotels and meeting venues.
The ECOsmart certification process, which features in BTN Europe’s Green List of sustainability specialists, independently audits properties across a range of criteria, such as infrastructure, waste management, green meeting packages and food policies. They are then awarded certifications ranging from Bronze to Platinum.
This development will allow Clarity’s clients to search and select ECOsmart accredited properties and venues through the display of a “digital badge” within the booking tools.
Pat McDonagh, Clarity’s CEO, said; “Over the last three years, we’ve been a trusted partner of Greengage, strategically collaborating on ways we can work together to help customers reach their sustainability goals and hotel programmes.
“Customers have the assurance that we are working with responsible suppliers. Likewise, by providing our suppliers access to this programme, means they can benchmark and improve their sustainability practices continuously.”
The first phase of the integration with ECOsmart will launch in December when accredited properties will start to be made visible in the ClarityGo and MeetingsPro booking portals.
Andrew Perolls, Greengage’s founder and CEO, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Clarity to take what has already been done with ECOsmart in venue-find directories, directly into a TMC for the first time.
“This joint initiative is part of the wider consultancy we offer Clarity customers and internal training to Clarity employees.”
Kirsty Given, Clarity’s director of corporate responsibility and sustainability, added: “ECOsmart provides a clear and accurate way for bookers to make informed sustainable choices at the point of booking, which is something we know our customers want to be empowered to do.”
