TAP Air Portugal Sets a New Standard, Dominating Europe, Africa, and South America at World Travel Awards in Madeira – Travel And Tour World

TAP Air Portugal has soared to the top once again, claiming the titles of the best airline for travel to both Africa and South America at the renowned World Travel Awards. This year’s ceremony, hosted in the stunning setting of Madeira, recognized TAP’s unmatched commitment to excellence in connecting continents.
This is not just a one-time triumph for TAP; it marks the seventh consecutive year the airline has been celebrated for its exceptional service on these routes. Adding to its legacy, TAP was also a winner in these categories in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, demonstrating a longstanding tradition of excellence.
Renowned for its reliable network, high-quality service, and dedication to customer satisfaction, TAP Air Portugal continues to bridge the gap between Europe, Africa, and South America. These awards highlight the airline’s pivotal role in fostering global connections and enhancing travel experiences across these dynamic regions.
Mário Chaves, TAP’s Chief Operating Officer, who received the award, says that ‘these awards reflect the importance of the South American and African markets for the Company and also the work we have done to strengthen this position. We work every day to make the Company better. We’re going to be 80 years old next year and for 80 years we’ve been able to maintain this leadership and we hope we can continue to serve our Customers in the best possible way.
TAP Air Portugal connects Africa with 80 weekly flights from Porto and Lisbon to 14 destinations, including Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Morocco, Senegal, Gambia, and Ghana. This robust network underscores TAP’s commitment to fostering connectivity across the continent.
In Brazil, TAP operates 87 weekly flights, directly linking Lisbon to 13 cities such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Brasília, Salvador, and Manaus. The airline also connects Porto to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, offering a total of 15 routes between Portugal and Brazil, solidifying its position as a key carrier in the region.
TAP’s South American operations extend beyond Brazil, with direct flights connecting Funchal to Caracas in Venezuela, further enhancing its transcontinental offerings.
The World Travel Awards, which recognize excellence across the global tourism industry, honored TAP’s achievements this year. Winners were selected through an online voting process involving tourism professionals and the public, reflecting broad acclaim for TAP’s exceptional service and expansive network.
With flights to 92 destinations and more than 1,000 weekly operations, TAP Air Portugal continues to lead the way in international travel, connecting travelers to key locations around the globe.
