Swiss bolsters long-haul fleet with A350 order

European carrier Swiss has added five A350-900 aircraft to its existing Airbus order, with a total of 10 new aircraft to be delivered between 2025 and 2031.

The five additional aircraft will be gradually delivered from 2027 and form part of an overall investment by airline owner Lufthansa Group, which also owns Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa and Air Dolomiti.

Swiss CEO Jens Fehlinger said: “This is a major investment, and a vital one to ensure that we continue to meet our customers’ high expectations. With these advanced twin-jets and their innovative cabins, we’re bringing our long-haul aircraft fleet up to a totally new level of modernity, sustainability and inflight comfort for our guests.”

The carrier’s A350-900 planes will feature its new ‘SWISS senses’ cabin interior, which is set to debut in 2025 and will include redesigned seating in first class, business class and economy. The carrier’s premium economy product, first introduced in 2022, will also be included.

The first A350-900 aircraft is expected to be delivered in summer 2025, with routes finalised “over the next few months”, the carrier said.
