Beer News: McDonald’s Serves Beer With Burgers In Europe / World’s Most Expensive Lager – American Craft Beer
Well, let’s start with the obvious, any lager that costs $120 for a 6-Pack, better be special, very, very special. Weve that, “Words to Drink By” and more.
The $120 Six-Pack Of Lager
Well let’s start with the obvious, any Pilsner that goes for $20 a bottle better be special, very special. And Hanabi Lager is pretty sure they’ve something special.
Hanabi Lager Co was founded by Nick Gislason, the director of winemaking at Screaming Eagle, “America’s most expensive wine,” where bottles of its small-batch Cabernet Sauvignon can fetch $5,000 or more.
And Gislason’s authentic vision is what Hanabi Lager is all about.
“This is the best beer we have ever brewed, and damn, it just tastes like home,” the company explains on its website, citing their seasonal addition, San Juan Island Bere, which is made from “ancient” barley grown organically in San Juan Island, Washington.
San Juan Island Bere is a 4.9% ABV Pilsner that’s as pricey as it is ambitious.
“Every beer he makes features a single heirloom grain that’s been painstakingly sourced and cared for just like the great wines of the world feature single grape varietals,” The NY Post reported.

McDonald’s Serves Beer With its Burgers In Europe
According to the New York Post the McDonald’s burger chain serves beer at many of its venues abroad…
“Along with Italy, beer is served at McDonald’s in France, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Lithuania, Serbia, the Netherlands, Greece, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Germany. Budweiser, Heineken, Coors, and Stella Artois are the most commonly sold — but most of the burger joints will add in a regional favorite, too.”
The Post went on to report that McDonald’s in South Korea has been serving up alcohol at its franchises since 2016 and that Poland was doing it almost two decades ago.
