Advantage appoints John Simmons to newly created AMS role

John Simmons

Advantage Travel Partnership has appointed John Simmons to the newly created role of business development manager, business travel for its SME arm Advantage Managed Services (AMS).

Reporting to Andy Boorman, head of business development, global business travel at The Advantage Travel Partnership, Simmons will be responsible for day-to-day business development opportunities as well as attracting new business for AMS members.

Simmons joins the UK-based TMC consortium with more than 15 years’ experience in the corporate travel sector, most recently as a client account manager at American Express Global Business Travel, where he handled a global portfolio of SME clients. Prior to this, he held operational positions with travel management companies such as Hogg Robinson, Fleet Street Travel, Portman Travel, Statesman Travel and Travel & Transport.

Commenting on his appointment, Simmons said: “I join Advantage at an exciting time! The managed services model is growing at pace, and my aim is to develop this programme further by presenting the benefits and opportunities to prospective members to help their businesses to grow and thrive.

“I look forward to working with the existing members and adding value to their business by offering day-to-day support in the ever-changing landscape of business travel.”

The Advantage Travel Partnership is ranked as the third largest TMC network in Europe in BTN Europe’s Leading TMCs 2024 report. The consortium’s AMS model, introduced in 2009, encompasses 76 branches that collectively generate an annual turnover of £150 million, according to Advantage.
