Air France to introduce ‘ultra-high-speed’ inflight wifi service
Air France will introduce a free ‘ultra-high-speed’ inflight wifi service across its entire fleet in 2025.
The carrier said the new service, which will be progressively rolled out from the summer 2025 season, will offer “ground-like” connectivity free of charge to all travel cabins. To access the service, however, travellers will need to be a member of the Air France-KLM Group’s Flying Blue loyalty programme.
Air France is working with satellite internet provider Starlink, owned by SpaceX, to provide the new wifi service, which will be accessible from smartphones, tablets and laptops. According to the carrier, each traveller will be able to connect several devices simultaneously.
During the transitional period, the carrier said it will continue to offer a “connectivity service” on flights not yet equipped with Starlink internet capabilities, including a free instant messaging service and additional browsing and streaming options that can be accessed for a fee.
