Air India launches London Gatwick-Bengaluru service

Air India has launched a five-times-weekly service between London Gatwick and Begaluru – its fifth route from the Sussex airport.

The new service to the growing tech hub of Bengaluru joins the carrier’s existing services to Goa, Kochi, Ahmedabad and Amritsar, giving it a total of 17 weekly flights from Gatwick.

The new services are operated using the carrier’s B787 Dreamliner aircraft featuring 18 flatbed seats in business class and 238 seats in the economy cabin.

Flights depart London Gatwick on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays at 20.35 and arrive in Bengaluru at 10.50 the following day. The reverse journey departs Bengaluru at 13.05 and arrives in London at 19.05.

Stephanie Wear, VP aviation development at London Gatwick, said: “This new service to Bengaluru is excellent news for both passengers and businesses across London and the South East. This city’s dynamic tech industry and cultural significance makes it a fantastic addition to our route network.”

Air India additionally operates 31 flights per week to/from London Heathrow and six per week to/from Birmingham.

Earlier this year, Virgin Atlantic commenced a daily service between London Heathrow and Bengaluru and announced plans to add a second daily flight to Mumbai in October.
