China Eastern to launch first Marseille-Shanghai route

China Eastern Airlines is to launch a new route between Shanghai and Marseille from 2 July.

The flights to Marseille Provence airport will be operated by China Eastern’s subsidiary carrier Shanghai Airlines.

There will be three services per week on the new route flying on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, with Shanghai Airlines using Boeing 787-9 aircraft fitted with economy, premium economy and business class cabins.

SkyTeam member China Eastern will become the first airline to fly on the route between Shanghai and France’s second largest city.

Flights are being launched just weeks before this summer’s Olympics in Paris when Marseille is set to host the event’s sailing races.
