Holidays don’t have to break the bank. In fact, there are plenty of affordable destinations out there that allow you to see more of the world on a budget.

One of these is Gdansk, Poland, which has been branded the “most affordable city break spot in Europe”. It’s not just price that reels in the tourists either.

Many have gushed about the city on TikTok, including the popular Orda Twins page. In a recent clip, the duo showed just how much there is to do at the location.

In footage that’s bound to spark wanderlust, the siblings popped into quaint eateries and coffee shops. They also strolled along sandy beaches and narrow streets borderd by pretty pastel-coloured properties.

Many commenters agreed that Gdańsk is the perfect place to add to your bucket list. One commented: “One of the top city breaks in Eastern Europe.” Another agreed, commenting: “100% the best place to visit in Poland. Modern city, good food, and many historical sights.”

A third remarked: “Poland is so so underrated, I absolutely love it. Always made to feel welcome as a Brit.” And a fourth added: “Gdansk is beautiful.”

Gdansk boasts a rich and intricate history. It was a powerhouse during the Hanseatic League era, a major port in central Europe, and a stage for pivotal events such as the start of World War II and the emergence of the Solidarity movement in the 1980s, which was instrumental in toppling communism in Central and Eastern Europe.

Tourists flock to experience its unique cultural fusion of Polish, German, and other influences. The city is home to a plethora of museums, architectural marvels, and cultural happenings, including the Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre and the Baltic Philharmonic.

The architecture is also very impressive. The city is famed for its picturesque Old Town, rebuilt after significant damage during World War II, with highlights such as the Long Market, the historic Gdansk Crane, and St. Mary’s Church, one of the largest brick churches globally.

Close to Gdansk, visitors can discover beautiful sandy beaches on the Baltic Sea, making it a popular spot for summer holidays. The region also offers nature reserves and parks for outdoor enthusiasts.

And let’s not forget the thriving food and drink scene. Gdansk offers a fusion of culinary experiences influenced by various cultures.

Travellers can savour local Polish cuisine as well as Gdansk specialties, such as Goldwasser, a traditional liqueur with small flakes of gold.

And the cheap cost of beer, which will only set you back around 81p for domestic produce. Sounds amazing to us!
