Emirates launches first flights using new Airbus A350 aircraft

Emirates has launched its first route using new Airbus A350 aircraft, with flights from Dubai to the Scottish capital Edinburgh.

The carrier operated its inaugural A350 flight to Edinburgh on Saturday (4 January) – it is the first of 65 A350s that will join Emirates’ fleet over the next few years.

Emirates’ A350 aircraft have been configured to carry up to 312 passengers, including 32 business class fully flat seats and 21 seats in premium economy.

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ deputy president and chief commercial officer, said introducing the A350 was a “pivotal moment” for the airline.

“Our first Airbus A350 making its maiden journey to Edinburgh also underscores the strategic importance of the UK within our global network,” added Kazim.

“The Emirates A350 offers the best of our latest inflight products, with new features and enhancements in every cabin. As we continue to expand our A350 fleet, we’re not just adding new aircraft – we’re setting new standards for global air travel.”

The introduction of the A350 on the Dubai-Edinburgh route comes just two months after Emirates restarted flights to the Scottish city. The airline also operates a daily A380 service to Glasgow.

Emirates plans to introduce A350 aircraft on eight more routes in the coming months including Lyon in France and Bologna in Italy. Other A350 destinations will include Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kuwait, Bahrain, Colombo and Muscat.
