Euro 2024 stadiums: Host cities, venues, seating capacity for UEFA European Championship in Germany | Sporting News

Germany are on host duty for Euro 2024 in a first for the country as a unified nation, having previously hosted as West Germany back in 1988.

Fans will travel to Germany from across Europe, hoping to see their team stake a claim for continental glory and make it all the way to the final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 14.

Tournament organizers have been praised for their smooth handling of pre-competition planning, with 10 stadiums included on the Euro 2024 list, spread right across the country.

As part of a plan to bring matches to every corner of Germany, no city will be represented by more than one stadium, with some of the most iconic arenas in European club football repurposed for Euro 2024.

Euro 2024 stadiums and seating capacity

Berlin’s Olympiastadion will host the showpiece final, but the majority of group and knockout games will be split evenly across the other nine stadiums.

Olympiastadion Berlin

  • Location: Berlin, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 71,000
  • Home to: Hertha Berlin, German national team (selected games)

The Olympiastadion is the main home of the German national side for domestic matches as part of a ground share with club team Hertha Berlin. Alongside the final on July 14, it will also host some eye-catching group games, including Spain vs. Croatia (June 15) and one Round of 16 and quarterfinal match.

Allianz Arena

  • Location: Munich, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 66,000
  • Home to: Bayern Munich, German national team (selected games)

Bayern Munich’s home arena will host the first game of Euro 2024, as Germany kickoff the tournament against Scotland on June 14. The stadium is one of the most famous in European football, and has already been picked as the venue of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League final.

It will also host one Round of 16 game and a semifinal.

Signal Iduna Park

  • Location: Dortmund, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 62,000
  • Home to: Borussia Dortmund, German national team (selected games)

Signal Iduna Park, or the Westfalenstadion, is home to Borussia Dortmund’s infamous “Yellow Wall” of home fans. The stadium will have a slightly different look at Euro 2024, but with plenty of Dortmund supporters expected to attend games here, there is likely to be plenty of yellow on display.

France take on Poland here in their final group game, on June 25, and it will also host a Round of 16 clash, and the other semifinal game.

Stuttgart Arena

  • Location: Stuttgart, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 51,000
  • Home to: VfB Stuttgart, German national team (selected games)

Stuttgart is Germany’s south west representative for the tournament, with VfB Stuttgart’s home offering a capacity of almost 51,000. Germany will play their second group match here, against Hungary on June 19, and the stadium also has one quarterfinal game.

Volksparkstadion

  • Location: Hamburg, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 49,000
  • Home to: Hamburg, Shakhtar Donetsk (Champions League games), German national team (selected games)

Hamburg’s home ground has seen a new resident for the 2023/24 season, with Shakhtar Donetsk playing their home Champions League games here due to UEFA safety concerns over playing in Ukraine.

It has been picked for four group-stage games and one quarterfinal contest.

Arena AufSchalke

  • Location: Gelsenkirchen, Germany
  • Capacity: 50,000
  • Home to: Schalke, German national team (selected games)

Schalke’s home ground will play host to some of the most keenly anticipated group-stage matches, including Serbia vs. England on June 16 and Spain vs. Italy four days later.

England will also play their Round of 16 game here if Gareth Southgate’s side finish top of Group C.

Frankfurt Arena

  • Location: Frankfurt, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 47,000
  • Home to: Eintracht Frankfurt, German national team (selected games)

Frankfurt will be the spot for Germany’s final group game, as Julian Nagelsmann’s hosts take on Switzerland on June 23. England will take on Denmark here three days before, with one Round of 16 game on the schedule.

Cologne Stadium

  • Location: Cologne, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 43,000
  • Home to: FC Koln, German national team (selected games)

Cologne plays host to England’s third group game, against Slovenia on June 25, as part of the pre-knockout stage fixture list. It will also host the winner of Group B’s Round of 16 game, with Spain, Italy and Croatia battling for top spot there.

Leipzig Stadium

  • Location: Leipzig, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 40,000
  • Home to: RB Leipzig, German national team (selected games)

If France win Group D, Les Bleus will play their Round of 16 game at the home of RB Leipzig (July 1), with Didier Deschamps’ team also facing the Netherlands in the group stages here on June 21.

Dusseldorf Arena

  • Location: Dusseldorf, Germany
  • Approx. capacity: 47,000
  • Home to: Fortuna Dusseldorf, German national team (selected games)

If England do manage to top their group, and navigate through the Round of 16, they will face a quarterfinal game in Dusseldorf on July 6.
