Europe Returns to Dominate Olympic Basketball

For the first time in 32 years, three of the four Olympic semifinalists are European: France, Germany—who will face each other tomorrow—and Serbia.

In 1992, at the Barcelona Olympics, which were won by the Dream Team, Croatia, Lithuania, and the Unified Team (a unified representation of 12 former Soviet Republics excluding Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) competed for a medal.

The race for the gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games will definitely feature at least one European team, as the semifinal between France and Germany (described by Dirk Nowitzki as the best generation ever) guarantees the presence of one of them in the final.
