Gothenburg joins the Choose Europe initiative
Business Region Göteborg has joined the Choose Europe network, which brings together the investment promotion agencies of several of the continent’s most dynamic regions. The initiative raises awareness of Europe’s advantages and aims to simplify and accelerate expansion to Europe for companies.
Europe is a global leader in innovation and sustainability, regularly dominating global rankings, such as WIPO’s Global Innovation Index and the UN’s sustainable development index.
Choose Europe offers companies and professionals a streamlined, collaborative gateway to the continent’s vibrant economies. It provides access to an array of resources, market intelligence and regional expertise.
With the addition of Gothenburg, the network now involves 15 European cities and regions, including Stockholm, Berlin, Vienna, Zurich and Barcelona.
The initiative serves as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration. It also involves joint promotional activities, such as digital campaigns and exhibiting at trade shows. In early January 2025, for example, the partners will be flying the flag for Europe at the global tech event CES, in Las Vegas, USA.
“Europe remains a beacon of innovation, diversity and opportunity. It’s a continent united by shared values of progress, sustainability, and collaboration. A place where companies can expand with confidence, knowing they’re entering a market that values integrity, excellence and forward-thinking innovation,” says Lukas Huber, Director of Greater Zurich Area, founding member of the network.
As a dominant hub for Sweden’s business R&D, and a front-runner in sustainability, Gothenburg offers unique advantages to businesses looking to expand their footprint in Europe. From mobility and electrification to life science and ICT, Gothenburg is an innovative and collaborative region where industries of the future are thriving.
“Gothenburg is a natural gateway to Scandinavia, and a hotspot for innovation. Our involvement with Choose Europe reinforces our mission of supporting businesses and talent on an international scale,” says Patrik Andersson, CEO at Business Region Göteborg.
“We believe that through this collaboration, we can create more pathways for businesses to grow, innovate, and succeed across Europe,” he adds.
