Inntel secures B Corp status

UK-based travel management and meetings specialist Inntel has achieved a B Corp certification following an impact assessment of the company’s workplace diversity policies and carbon offset measures.

The company is among just a handful of TMCs with the certification, which evaluates products and services and assesses a company’s overall social and environmental impact. These include COCO+,Travel Places, Atlas Travel and Technology Group, which has operations in the US and UK, Bizaway in Italy, and Australia-based Reho Travel.

Commenting on the certification, Inntel CEO Douglas O-Neill, said: “B Corp certification is a key milestone in Inntel’s 40-year history, and I am incredibly proud of this achievement. It reflects the hard work of our teams and our commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.

“We take pride in minimising our environmental impact while providing exceptional service and innovative solutions to help our clients meet their own sustainability goals,” he added.

To certify as a B Corp, companies must pass a ‘rigorous’ impact assessment with a score of at least 80 out of 200. Inntel achieved a score of 94.3, which the TMC said was largely attributed to its governance and workplace initiatives such as its flexible work policy, the implementation of ESG-related KPIs for all its employees and the fact that more than 40 per cent of its managers are women.

The company, which featured among the UK’s top 20 TMCs in BTN Europe’s Leading TMCs 2024 report, has also set a carbon reduction plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2040, including SBTi-approved near-term targets of a 46 per cent reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 (from a 2019 baseline).

Additionally, the TMC has established partnerships with the likes of sustainable travel specialist Trees4Travel and charitable social enterprise EventWell to offer emissions calculation tools and specialist services to clients. In 2023, it also introduced its Sustainable Travel Hub, a free, open resource to help companies make more environmentally friendly travel choices.
