‘It’s not over’ – N’Golo Kante admits he could make European football return
N’Golo Kante has opened the door to a return to European football.
The French midfielder ended his eight-year stay in the Premier League last summer when he completed a move to join Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
The 33-year-old won just about everything there was to win in England.
He secured Premier League titles with both Leicester and Chelsea alongside a Champions League, FA Cup, Europa League and a FIFA Club World Cup during his time with the Blues.
Having also won the World Cup and UEFA Nations League with France, Kante could be forgiven for seeing out the rest of his career in the lucrative Saudi Pro League.
But the midfielder hasn’t ruled out a return to Europe after two excellent displays at Euro 2024 where he rolled back the years against Austria and Netherlands.
Asked if his career in Europe is over, Kante said: “No, it’s not over.
“I appreciate the feedback. In Saudi Arabia, it’s new football, a new experience.
“Finding these feelings again with the French team is beautiful, it touches me, we want to do well.
“But that’s not a question I’m asking myself today.”
Kante added: “I feel good, last season went well with Al Ittihad in Arabia, we had a good preparation with the French team.
“At the moment I feel good, I hope this continues.
“In any case, there are the players needed to replace me if ever there is a problem, but I want to continue, to give the maximum.”
Kante’s immediate priority will be on completing his international collection by helping France to Euro 2024 glory.
Les Bleus face Poland in their final Group D fixture as they look to pip the Netherlands to top spot in the group.
