Job opportunities for Bangladeshis in Europe

Italy, Germany, Greece and Romania will recruit 3,000 workers from Bangladesh, Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud has said.

He revealed the development after a farewell meeting with outgoing EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley at the foreign ministry on Sunday (July 14).

 

“The EU Ambassador has indicated the potential for hiring more Bangladeshi workers in the future depending on the skills and efficiency of these 3,000 workers,” he said.

 

He said they also discussed the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) facilities for Bangladeshi products until 2032. Bangladesh is scheduled to graduate from the Least Developed Country (LDC) bloc to a middle-income one in 2026.

 

According to the 2020 International Migrant Stock compiled by UNDESA, a total of 456,516 Bangladeshi nationals lived in Europe in 2020.

 

The United Kingdom has the highest diaspora Bangladeshi population (241,799), followed by Italy (135,468), Spain (14,594), Germany (13,612) and France (12,878).
