Lufthansa Group to hire 10,000 new employees in 2025

The Lufthansa Group will significantly expand its workforce in 2025 with plans to add some 10,000 employees across a “wide range” of roles, the airline group announced on Wednesday (8 January).

This will include the addition of more than 2,000 flight attendants, around 800 pilots, more than 1,400 ground staff and around 1,300 technical experts.

More than 2,000 employees will be added to the company’s aircraft maintenance division Lufthansa Technik, while an additional 1,200 employees will be hired in administrative roles across the group, which also includes Austrian Airlines, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings.

More than half of all the vacancies will be filled in Germany, the company said.

Austrian Airlines and Eurowings are each looking for around 700 employees, while the group’s flag carrier Lufthansa Airlines will continue to focus on its ‘turnaround’ plan and expects to hire fewer employees than in 2024 after reporting a gaping H1 loss of €265 million.

The German carrier will look to recruit some 1,200 new staff members over the next twelve months, with a focus on operations, the company said.

Michael Niggemann, member of the executive board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, who is also responsible for human resources and legal affairs, said: “The Lufthansa Group is and remains an attractive employer with many different job profiles and career options.

“Last year alone, we received 350,000 applications across the group and recruited over 13,000 employees. We look forward to welcoming every new colleague.”
