Manchester Airports Group enjoys bumper summer traffic

The UK’s Manchester Airports Group (MAG) saw passenger numbers rise by 5 per cent last month as London Stansted enjoyed the busiest July in its history.

MAG, which also owns Manchester and East Midlands airports, catered for 6.6 million passengers in July across the three airports, including 3.2 million at Manchester (up 6.8 per cent on July 2023), 2.9 million at Stansted (up 3.4 per cent year-on-year) and 520,000 at East Midlands (up 5.2 per cent year-on-year).

Over the past 12 months, MAG has achieved record group passenger traffic of 62.9 million (an increase of 10.3 per cent year-on-year) across its three UK airports, with Manchester catering for 29.6 million travellers during the year up to the end of July, and Stansted only just behind with traffic of 29.1 million.

The impressive results again show the strength of the UK aviation market, with hub airport London Heathrow also reporting record passenger traffic in July.

“Operational performance across the group remains strong, with 100 per cent of passengers at East Midlands airport passing through security in 15 minutes or less. At London Stansted the figure was at 99 per cent and at Manchester airport it was 97 per cent,” added MAG in an update on its July performance.
