Marriott to expand Moxy brand in Europe

Marriott International is slated to expand its European portfolio with the addition of 17 Moxy branded hotels in multiple cities by the end of 2025.

The ‘lifestyle’ brand, which first launched in Milan in 2014, currently includes 89 hotels across 18 destinations, with new properties set to open in France, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, Belgium, Poland, Serbia and Germany, including its debut in Spain and Turkey.

“Moxy’s expansion into existing and new destinations, across Europe reflects the aspirations and expectations of the next generation traveller,” said Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, vice president, premium & select brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Marriott International.

“Our anticipated openings will stay true to the brand’s origins and focus on bringing a local design narrative in every public space, ensuring that every hotel feels ingrained in the local culture.”

New openings include Moxy Barcelona, expected to open next month with 414 guestrooms, social spaces and a rooftop pool. The 168-room Moxy Istanbul Beyoğlu will open at the end of this year, followed by the addition of Moxy Izmir.

In France, Moxy is slated to add Moxy Annecy to its portfolio by the end of 2024, followed by Moxy Nice. Meanwhile, the expected openings of Moxy Pompeii and Moxy Verona next year will strengthen the brand’s footprint in Italy.

In Germany, Moxy anticipates opening Moxy Kupferzell in Hohenlohe, and in Poland will open its fifth property in Warsaw.

Following the opening of Moxy Cork (pictured), the brand expects to add Moxy Dublin Docklands in Ireland and is slated to open its third hotel in Portugal with Moxy Alfragide Lisbon.

Moxy Brussels Airport and Moxy Antwerp are expected to open in Belgium, while Moxy Zurich, Letzigrund will be added in Switzerland and Moxy Belgrade Skadarlija Downtown will open as the brand’s second property in Serbia.

The group also opened 129-room Moxy Luxembourg Airport this month, marking the brand’s debut in the country. The hotel is located within the airport’s Skypark Business Center at Luxembourg Airport and is directly connected to the terminal via an indoor walkway.
