Milan And Rome Host EasyJet’s New Bases For Better Connectivity – Travel And Tour World

EasyJet is expanding its Italian operations with new bases at Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino, boosting connectivity, creating jobs, and enhancing travel options.

EasyJet is set to strengthen its presence in Italy with the launch of two new bases at Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino, scheduled to open in spring 2025. This expansion marks a significant step for the airline as it continues to grow its footprint in one of Europe’s most dynamic aviation markets.

The new bases follow the European Commission’s decision to approve easyJet as the short-haul remedy provider in Lufthansa’s acquisition of a stake in ITA Airways. This decision positions easyJet to play a pivotal role in reshaping the competitive landscape of short-haul travel in Italy.

Five aircraft will be stationed at Milan Linate, with an additional three allocated to Rome Fiumicino.These additions are expected to create around 300 new jobs across both locations, further boosting the airline’s operational capacity in Italy. Serving over 21 million passengers annually, Italy will solidify its standing as easyJet’s second-largest market.

The airline’s presence in Italy will span 20 airports, with 38 aircraft operating across four bases, including existing hubs in Milan Malpensa and Naples. Milan Malpensa remains a cornerstone of easyJet’s European operations, having facilitated travel for over 100 million passengers since operations began in 1998.

Throughout its 26 years of operation in Italy, easyJet has served over 210 million passengers across its wide-reaching network. This longevity underscores the airline’s commitment to providing reliable and accessible air travel options for Italian and international travelers alike.
