Minor Hotels names CEO for Europe and Americas
Gonzalo Aguilar
Minor Hotels has named Gonzalo Aguilar as CEO for Europe and the Americas. He will take up the position on 1 January 2025.
Currently the chief operating officer, Europe at Marriott International, Aguilar will begin a three-month handover period on 1 October before Minor’s current CEO Ramón Aragonés retires at the end of this year. Aragonés, who joined the group, then known as NH Hotel Group, in 2009, will remain a member of its board of directors and serve as non-executive vice chairman.
In his new role, Aguilar will spearhead the group’s growth strategy for Europe and the Americas.
Throughout his career at Marriott, which has spanned more than 20 years, Aguilar oversaw the integration of AC Hotels following Marriott’s acquisition of the group and served as general manager of Marriott properties throughout the Americas before moving into executive positions in Europe.
Minor Hotels CEO and president of Minor Hotels Europe & Americas, Dillip Rajakarier, said: “Gonzalo’s deep understanding of the hospitality industry and his proven leadership will be instrumental in guiding and executing Minor Hotels Europe & Americas’ strategic business plan. His invaluable insights into the multi-brand and asset-light hotel space in Europe and the Americas will set Minor Hotels on the path of continued success.”
