Premier Inn plans to develop hotel at Edinburgh Airport

Budget hotel brand Premier Inn has agreed a deal to develop a new property at Edinburgh Airport.

Premier Inn’s owner Whitbread said it had secured a location to build a 200-room hotel around 10 minutes’ walk from the airport’s terminal. The announcement comes weeks after the chain revealed plans for a new 276-room hotel at Manchester Airport.

Plans for the four-storey Edinburgh Airport hotel will be submitted to City of Edinburgh Council in early 2025 but no target date for the opening of the property has been announced.

Jill Anderson, acquisitions manager at Whitbread, said: “As the airport continues to succeed and grow, so are we. We have recognised an opportunity to expand our network in the catchment and bring the popular Premier Inn brand to within walking distance of the airport terminal building.”

The new hotel will feature Premier Inn’s latest restaurant concept, called The Social, on the ground floor, as well as a mixture of room types, including Premier Plus rooms. It will also have parking for 100 cars.

Whitbread added that the new hotel would be solely powered by electricity generated from renewable sources, with the development also designed to achieve a “very good” rating for its sustainability from BREEAM.
