Prince William spotted at the Euro 2024 final in Germany with Prince George
Prince William is firmly showing his support for the Three Lions as he arrives at the Olympiastadion stadium in Berlin, Germany, for England’s Euro 2024 final against Spain with his eldest son Prince George.
In recognition of the team’s achievements so far, Prince William chose to post a message to the squad on social media yesterday: “We are so proud of you all England, just one last push to finish the job! Go out there and show the world what you’re made of. We believe. W.”
Attending alongside William to support Gareth Southgate’s team, is his eldest son, Prince George. Although kick-off at 8pm may be a little late for the young Prince, he has already broken up for the summer holidays and will shortly be celebrating his 11th birthday so this could be an early treat.
The Prince of Wales is President of the Football Association and a committed football fan who would hope not to miss an England final, although he was not able to be in Dortmund to watch England beat the Netherlands in the semi-final due to a Homewards engagement the next day.
However, Prince William was snapped cheering on his England team as they played in the quarter-finals and in the group stages, as the Lions have emerged as the tournament’s underdogs.
William’s reaction to England’s win over Switzerland last weekend on penalties left fans delighted as he appeared noticeably tense, before cheering and punching the air when the team scored.
After the match the Prince shared his emotions in a post on X: “Nail biting to the very end. Well done England! Semi-finals here we come! We believe. W.”
It is the second time that England has reached consecutive Euro finals, having lost to Italy on penalties during the tournament in 2021.
Before the Euro 2024 tournament began, the future monarch paid a visit to the team to convey his best wishes before they departed for Germany. William surprised the England men’s squad with a visit to St George’s Park, England’s national football centre in Burton upon Trent, where he presented them with shirts.
William has also shared his devotion to England’s women’s team with his daughter Princess Charlotte, as they issued a message of support to the Lionesses ahead of their triumph in the Euros final in 2022.
The heir to the throne was just 23 when he took on the role of FA president and one of his first duties was to attend the 2006 World Cup in Germany that summer. His role as FA president covers both England men’s and women’s sides
