Road trip named ‘best in Europe’ jam-packed with beautiful seaside cities

Europe is packed full of incredible cities to explore. For the adventurious among us, exploring the continent by car may be the best option – but where do you start?

Well, there’s one road trip that boasts views of turquoise waters, historic cities and incredible food above all else, dubbed Europe’s best – and that’s in Croatia.

And Dubrovnik is the perfect place to start your Croatian road trip – you can rent your car upon arrival at the airport and delve into all the medieval city has to offer. The city has inspired many film makers and is a popular vacation spot for celebrities.

After staying one night in Dubrovnik, drive onward towards Pula, stopping at Markarska, Bol and its beach ranked among the prettiest in Europe. 

You will also discover the beautiful cities of Split, Trogir and Sibenik. In total it’s about 443 miles and roughly seven hours of driving time.

Take an evening to admire the sunset in Zadar or Nin, one of the most romantic cities in Europe, and walk along the coast then drive up to Rijeka, Opatija. 

You can indulge in a truffle risotto and drink in Rovinj (Croatia’s answer to Saint Tropez). 

Upon your arrival in Pula, you will be inundated with experiences. Visit the Roman amphitheatre and treat yourself to a luxury hotel stay before flying home from Pula airport.

Accommodation costs are highest in Dubrovnik and Split as they are the most popular, rates range from €200-350 per night for a high-end hotel. 

Pula is a cheaper destination with a pint of beer costing around €3, however, many visitors say it does not compare to the iconic Split.
