Singapore Airlines launches flights from London Gatwick
Singapore Airlines has launched long-awaited flights from London Gatwick to Singapore – its second route from the UK capital.
The carrier is now flying five times per week between Gatwick and Singapore, which is in addition to its existing services from London Heathrow and Manchester airports.
Singapore Airlines operated the first flight on the new route on Saturday (22 June). Services will depart from Gatwick on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The airline is operating Airbus A350-900s on the route, which are equipped with 253 seats, including 42 in business class and 24 in premium economy.
Mohamed Rafi Mar, Singapore Airlines’ general manager for the UK and Ireland, said: “We are pleased to offer more choices to customers, with London Gatwick as our third UK gateway. We have seen a growing demand for travel – not just to Singapore but to Southeast Asia and Australia.
“This new route from an internationally recognised airport also offers excellent transport links to London and the southeast of England for those departing and arriving into the capital.”
Singapore Airlines already operates four daily flights from Heathrow as well as five weekly flights from Manchester.
