On the back of the LPGA apology, I’ve been speaking to Tom, from Ohio. His views are representative of the vast majority of people I’ve spoken to today.

He was in the queue for a shuttle bus from the car park at 05:30am but didn’t get on a bus until 07:05… just as the first shots were being hit. It’s about a 25-minute journey from the parking facility.

“The first tee is my favourite part of the day so I’m not happy I missed it,” he said. “There just weren’t enough buses.

“They prioritised the volunteers, which I understand, but it’s quite simple, they know how many tickets they’ve sold so just get the people here.”
