Swiss to extend new summer services into winter season
European airline Swiss is to extend several new summer services into the winter 2024-25 schedule.
The Lufthansa Group carrier has announced that its recently launched routes from Zurich to Washington DC, London Gatwick, Cluj-Napoca and Košice, as well as from Geneva to Oslo, will continue during the winter season.
Swiss also plans to increase frequencies on its long-haul routes from Zurich to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Shanghai this winter. Services to Los Angeles and San Francisco will increase to daily, while there will be twice-daily flights on the Miami route. Shanghai will also be served with daily flights during winter.
The airline has also announced that all 12 of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft have now been fitted with new AeroSHARK technology, which is designed to reduce air resistance during flights as a way of cutting fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions.
AeroSHARK is a transparent film which is fitted to the fuselage and engine nacelles of aircraft. It “replicates the hydrodynamic skin of a shark”, added Swiss in a statement.
