The pretty city in Europe named ‘cosiest’ city for autumn getaway

With many thinking about ways to escape the cold, others may not be in such a hurry and will be embracing this upcoming cold season with glee.

Autumn and winter seasons bring with it an element of being warm indoors, snuggling up and embracing all the beauty of colder days.

A certain picturesque European city has been hailed as the ultimate spot for a snuggle and deemed the cosiest city for an autumn getaway.

Riveria Travel determined their cosiest list by taking several factors into place including “optimal autumn temperatures, number of dry days, number of parks and nature attractions, and number of coffee shops.”

The site added: “Each factor was assigned a weight reflecting its importance to a cosy experience.

“Each country was then given a score based on the significance of these factors in relation to cosiness and ranked accordingly.”

And the top spot goes to Ljubljana, Slovenia with a cosy score of 67.2.

Ljubljana is Slovenia’s largest city and also its capital with museums, boat tours or simply taking a stroll around marvelling at its historic buildings and architecture, you’ll find plenty to do.

Ljubljana may be a lesser-known region but it is famed for its natural beauty, array of parks and gardens and is home to the Ljubljanica River.

The river is one of the region’s most notable landmarks with vast bridges and picturesque city centre embankments.

Owing to its cosiness, is the city’s 75 coffee shops and 61 scenic attractions with Tivoli Park being a must-see when visiting – all making it the perfect cosy getaway this autumn.

One TripAdvisor wrote of Ljubljana: “This is one of the best river areas to enjoy. There are so many trees, bridges, and lovely buildings lining both sides.

“The restaurants all have lovely umbrellas and sidewalk seating. For a capital city in a European country the OldTown river area is unbelievably safe, clean, no panhandlers, no buses running you down and no exhaust fumes.”

Other cities featured on the list included:

3. Prague, Czech Republic – 64.1
