These are the most popular theme parks in Europe

57.61 million people visited the 15 most popular theme parks in Europe last year. That is over two and a half million more than in the previous year, as the latest Theme Index Report shows.

Disneyland Park in Paris is in first place with 10.4 million visitors. Europa-Park in Rust follows in second place – at a considerable distance. Six million people visited it last year.

However, visitor growth in Rust is stronger than in Paris. While Europa-Park grew by over eleven percent from 2022 to 2023, Disneyland Park only saw an increase of just under five percent.

The Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris also made it onto the podium with 5.7 million guests last year. It is followed by the Efteling theme park in the south of the Netherlands (around 5.5 million guests) and Tivoli Gardens in the Danish capital of Copenhagen (a good four million visitors).

The first amusement parks from the southern part of Europe then appear in the ranking – with Portaventura in the Spanish tourist resort of Salou (almost four million guests) and Gardaland in Italy (around three million guests).

The top ten is completed by Parc Asterix in the Paris suburb of Plailly (around 2.8 million visitors), Puy du Fou in Les Epesses, France (2.5 million visitors) and Legoland Windsor in England (around 2.4 million visitors).

The following amusement parks were in second place: Alton Towers in England, Legoland Billund in Denmark, the Liseberg theme park in Gothenburg, Phantasialand in the German city of Brühl and Parque Warner in the Spanish capital Madrid.

In addition to Europa-Park, Parque Warner (+7.5%) and Parc Asterix (+7%) recorded the strongest growth. The only park to lose visitors was the Swedish theme park Liseberg – with a whopping drop of eight percent.
