Travelodge hits 600 hotels mark with London opening
Budget hotel brand Travelodge has opened its 600th property with the debut of London Oval Cricket Ground Travelodge.
The 95-room hotel is located at the famed cricket ground in south London and has been developed in partnership with Surrey County Cricket Club.
The latest opening includes Travelodge’s new restaurant concept 85 Bar Café, alongside a host of sustainability features such as heat pumps to supply hot water, charging for electric vehicles, rooftop solar panels, low-energy lighting, and aerated showers and taps in bathrooms to reduce water use.
Jo Boydell, chief executive of Travelodge, said: “This hotel has been built to high standards, with sustainability an important factor of the design. It features our new premium look and feel design with our redesigned reception area and next generation rooms.”
The Oval property is Travelodge’s 81st location in the UK capital with three more hotels in London under construction in Bermondsey, Beckenham and Chiswick. Work on a new hotel in Stratford is also due to start later this year.
Outside London, the group has three more UK properties currently being built in Rotherham, Colchester and Bristol. Travelodge also now operates 12 hotels in Spain after acquiring six Spanish properties from Louvre Hotels Group earlier this month.
“We are focused on continuing to grow our portfolio, with over 300 locations identified for new hotels across the UK as well as 20 target locations in Spain – which would create even more jobs and provide further choice and great value to more business and leisure travellers,” added Boydell.
