UK Christmas market crowned most beautiful in Europe – full list

A Scottish Christmas market has been crowned the most stunning in Europe to visit this festive season.

As we edge closer to the latter half of November, it’s time to start considering a trip to a yuletide market. While it may not be December just yet, markets across the nation are gearing up to welcome visitors.

Research conducted by Solopress unveiled the most popular Christmas markets in Europe based on social media activity. According to the experts, Edinburgh takes the top spot as Europe’s premier Christmas market.

Operating from November 15 until January 4, the market offers an array of fairground attractions and stalls selling everything from gifts to tasty treats.

It also provides a perfect setting for holiday snaps with the magnificent backdrop of Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street Gardens.

The study revealed that Edinburgh’s Christmas market has a “remarkable” 2,738 TikTok posts and 55,304 Instagram hashtags, earning an overall score of 9.11 out of 10.

Solopress remarked: “Edinburgh’s Christmas market remains a European favourite, blending the atmospheric allure of its UK location with a uniquely Scottish festive experience.

“With over 55,000 Instagram posts and more than 2,700 TikTok mentions, this market is a staple for social media content, showcasing scenes from the bustling Princes Street Gardens to Edinburgh Castle lit against a wintry sky.

“The city’s Big Wheel, festive ice rink, and traditional Scottish food stalls provide a variety of scenes and experiences that make Edinburgh a visual delight and a rich cultural experience, helping it to secure top marks on social media.”

Winter Wonderland London is behind in second place on the list, with a score of 9.02. Meanwhile, completing the top five are Strasbourg in France, Vienna in Austria, and Budapest in Hungary.
