Watch: Ireland’s Josh van der Flier shows incredible golf skills in Ryder Cup Europe video
Irish rugby flanker Josh van der Flier will be one of the big stars for the Boys in Green when they take on Fiji at the Aviva Stadium tomorrow (kick-off 3.10pm).
But if he’s even close to the level he showed playing golf with Brian O’Driscoll, Andrew Porter and James Lowe at Adare Manor this year, a home win looks on the cards in the Autumn Nations Series game
The quartet feature in a recent post on X by Ryder Cup Europe, where the Irish players are filmed showing off their skills playing a scramble at the 2027 Ryder Cup venue.

O’Driscoll is a keen golfer but he appears blown away by the skills of Van der Flier, who plays off three at Druids Glen in County Wicklow.
“Oh great strike,” O’Driscoll declares as the flanker rips a long iron onto a green. “What club was that? Two-iron?”
Lowe was then heard gushing over a deft pitch by Van der Flier that skipped inside the other Irish players and spun to a halt a few feet from the hole.
“Ohh, it’s not fair!”
After watching a massive drive on another hole, Lowe looked awe-struck, adding: “Thank goodness it’s a scramble.”
Van der Flier then hit a brilliant tee shot to the par-three 16th, promoting more admiring comments.
“First ace,” O’Driscoll predicted as Van der Flier rifled a sky high iron shot over the pin to around 12 feet.
“Oooh, he’s showing off now,” chimed Lowe. “That’s my partner.”
