Wizz Air shares an ‘important’ update for anyone travelling to Europe this summer amid major disruptions

Wizz Air has shared a travel warning for customers as delays could affect flights throughout the summer.

This is due to “airport slot management issues” brought on by extreme weather that could continue into the coming months.

While Wizz Air stressed the disruptions are out of its control, it offered an apology to customers who have been, or could be, affected.

The extreme weather conditions have impacted flights for many airlines across Europe.

This comes as Ryanair commented on “widespread thunderstorm activity” that was affecting its flights yesterday and today.

It advised passengers to keep up-to-date with their flights by checking the app. This is where they will find more information on if they are delayed and what to do next.

Wizz Air revealed it has had more than 30,000 extra airport slot delay minutes in the past four weeks compared to the same period last year, as a result of the disruptions.

It added it will try to minimise delays and cancellations of flights going forward but it anticipates more issues with air traffic control systems.

Customers who have booked directly with Wizz Air will get updates on schedule changes via text and email.

As schools break up in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, many people will be looking to jet off on their 2024 summer holiday.

Those heading to Italy have been warned if taking part in outdoor tourist activities, such as hiking, following bear sightings in the Trentino region.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) told holidaymakers: “If you are planning on hiking in the Trentino region, read what to do if you see a brown bear.

“Bears usually avoid contact with humans because they perceive them as a danger. However, if you are visiting an area where they are native, it is important to know what to do in case of an encounter.”
